6 Days Self Drive South and West Iceland
Self drive in Iceland in the off-season is a great choice, and this tour takes you to all the highlights of south and west Iceland. As you will be spending 3 nights in the countryside, you will have a great chance of seeing the Northern Lights, if the conditions are favourable!

Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival – Keflavik – Reykjavik
Pick up the rental car at Keflavik international airport upon arrival and drive to Reykjavik where you stay the first night. Depending on your arrival time, an optional visit to the Blue Lagoon may be possible.
Day 2: Reykjavik – South Shore – Vik
Drive east along the south coast making stops at the inspiring Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara and explore the option of hiking or snowmobiling on Solheimajokull glacier. Accommodation in a country hotel outside of Vik which offer good conditions for observing the northern lights if they come out to play!
Day 3: Skaftafell – Jökulsarlon – Vik
Continue east across the sands of glacier rivers and lava fields towards Kirkjubaejarklaustur and Skaftafell National Park, an oasis of vegetations surrounded by mountains and glaciers. Continuing along the foot of Europe´s largest glacier, Vatnajokull, we reach Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon and the famous „Diamond Beach“. Then head back to Vik for overnight at the same hotel.
Day 4: The Golden Circle – Borgarnes
Depart Vik and head back west, now towards the famous Golden Circle, visiting the Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir National Park before arriving in Reykjavik in the late afternoon.
Driving towards Hvalfjordur continue towards Borgarnes. Accommodation in the area.
Day 5: Borgarnes – Snaefellsnes – Reykjavik
A full daytour to one of the most beautiful parts of Iceland, the Snaefellsnes peninsula, which is often playfully called „Little Iceland“, as you can find all natural phenomena in Iceland there: lava fields, volcanic craters, glacier, waterfalls, sandy beaches, charming fishing towns, bird cliffs and more. On Snaefellsnes peninsula you will also find one of the most photographed Icelandic mountains – Mr.Kirkjufell. Driving back through the town of Borgarnes continue further south to Reykjavik for the last overnight.
Day 6: Reykjavik – Keflavik – Departure
Drive to Keflavik airport in time for check in for your international flight.
If your flight departs late afternoon, then you have the possibility to add an optional whale watching boat tour in the morning, drive around the Reykjanes peninsula or visit the Blue Lagoon before dropping of the rental car at Keflavik airport.
