The Colorful Mountains and the City of Elves – Guided Walk
This tour begins at the bottom of the fjord with a hike to Brunavik. With your local guide, you will follow the loose gravel trail up to the Hofstrandarskard pass. Enjoy the spectacular views over some of Iceland’s oldest mountains and the striking colors of the second largest area of the rhyolite rock in the country. On the way back we head to Alfaborg, the city of the Elves, an area recognized for its traditional folklore tales which many of the locals still believe in to this day. It is the home to the hidden people of Iceland, so keep a close eye on the rocks, you may be lucky enough to spot the queen of the Elves herself! The tour ends at the local café in Borgarfjordur Eystri (refreshments payable locally).
